John Sharp To Keynote April's Signature Luncheon

SharpThe Richardson Chamber of Commerce’s monthly Signature Luncheon on April 13 will feature remarks by John Sharp, former Texas comptroller, on “Reform of Public School Finance.”  Sharp was appointed in September 2005 to chair the Texas Tax Reform Commission by Gov. Rick Perry, and he is currently a principal at Ryan & Company, a Dallas-based tax consulting firm.

The Texas Tax Reform Commission is a bipartisan group of 24 Texans who will develop proposals to modernize the state tax system and provide long-term property tax relief as well as sound financing for public schools.

The luncheon will be held at The Richardson Hotel, 701 E. Campbell Road in Richardson, from 11:45 a.m. - 1 p.m. Check-in and networking begin at 11:15 a.m.

RCC Honors Recipients Of Annual Awards

The Richardson Chamber of Commerce announced the recipients of its 2005 membership awards at its monthly board meeting on March 22. They are as follows:

“Small Business of the Year”

“Volunteer of the Year”
Lela Miller, owner of A Great Storage Place

“Rookie of the Year”
Judy Parsons, ViewPoint Bank

“Committee of the Year”
Golf Classic Steering Committee

Celebration To Close Annual Membership Drive

The Richardson Chamber of Commerce will end its annual membership drive next week with a celebration party from 5:15 - 7 p.m. April 13 in the community room of the First Bank of Canyon Creek. The event will take the place of this month's PM Connections.

The membership drive, called the 2006 Growth and Resources Campaign, is set for April 11-13. Six teams will compete to recruit the most new members. Several prizes will be given out, including two Southwest Airlines tickets to anywhere in the continental U.S. which will go to the top revenue producer.
