More than 100 Richardson Chamber of Commerce members gathered over two days last week and recruited 164 new members. Receiving the coveted "GodFaddah" award was Ray Niemec, Texas Instruments, whose five teams recruited a total of 68 new members. Dale Litton, also with Texas Instruments, who alone recruited 22 new members, received the "Big Dawg" award. "The result of this membership event is a real testament to our dedicated volunteers," said Ellie Jackson, director of Membership Services for the Chamber. The Horatio Alger award winner shared some of the wisdom he's gained over his more than 50-year career in mortgage banking at the Richardson Chamber of Commerce's 48th Annual Banquet. Nearly 400 attended the “Celebrating Entrepreneurship”-themed banquet which was held April 29 at the Renaissance Richardson Hotel. “Any company, in order to be successful, has to have a purpose,” Mozilo said. “It has to have a soul. If its purpose is to make money, it cannot survive.” From its inception, Countrywide's purpose was to make a difference in people's lives by lowering the barriers of entry and helping people realize the dream of home ownership. Mozilo said the company maintains this same soul today.
