Lender Purchasing 500,000 Square Feet In Richardson's Galatyn Park The City of Richardson is flying high after two visits by Texas Gov. Rick Perry in less than a month. On Dec. 14, Gov. Perry joined Countrywide Financial Corporation Chairman, CEO and Co-Founder Angelo Mozilo and Richardson Mayor Gary Slagel in announcing the largest job creation in the United States since 2000. The announcement that Countrywide will bring 7,500 jobs to Texas over the next six years, with 5,000 of them targeted for Richardson was made during a press conference held at the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts & Corporate Presentations. The Eisemann Center is located in Richardson's Galatyn Park Urban Center, where Countrywide is purchasing three buildings, totaling 500,000 square feet of office space, in the first phase of the company's Texas expansion plans. Richardson's Generosity Makes Holiday Special For Hundreds Of RISD Students Gifts Collected From Chamber's Parade Participants Among Toys Distributed
Hundreds of parents lined up outside RISD's Dobie Primary on a sunny afternoon a week before Christmas. Some were smiling, some were anxious, but all were there for one reason to provide their children with a happy holiday. Dobie Primary is the home to nearly 800 pre-k, kindergarten and first grade students. Of these children, more than 80 percent speak only Spanish and 90 percent qualify for the free breakfast/lunch program. In this area of low-income families, Christmas can be a daunting time. The staff at the primary school, however, goes out of their way to make the holidays a festive time of year. Thousands of toys are collected from various sources, bagged and distributed for more than 600 students. Federal Reserve Economist To Keynote January Luncheon Dr. W. Michael Cox, senior vice president and chief economist, Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, will be the keynote speaker at the Chamber's 1st Thursday Headliner Luncheon on Jan. 6. Dr. Cox, who will speak on "The Imagination Age, The Age Following The Information Age," advises the Bank president on monetary and other economic policy. In his 19 years at the Fed, he has contributed to a number of public policy issues, and his research is frequently designated as required reading for Congress. |
