Roads

Richardson’s strategic location with major area highways provides convenient access for workers commuting into Richardson, the second largest employment center in the DFW Metroplex.

Four major highways make this possible:

  • U.S. 75 (North Central Expressway)
  • I-635 (Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway)
  • SH 190 (President George Bush Turnpike)
  • Dallas North Tollway.

U.S. 75

  • U.S. 75 or Central Expressway is the main freeway north from downtown Dallas and bisects through central Richardson
  • New "High Five" interchange at I-635 near Richardson’s southern border has enabled this highly trafficked intersection to be among the most efficient in the state
  • High-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes were added to the median traveling both northbound and southbound beginning at I-635 and terminating at Bethany Road in northern Collin County.
  • Richardson is working to have exits from the HOA's for workers traveling into Richardson

I-635

  • I-635 or LBJ Freeway was constructed as a partial-loop freeway around the city of Dallas.
  • I-635 travels east from the north entrance of DFW Airport to  intersect with I-20 in Mesquite.
  • I-635 skirts Richardson’s southern border making Richardson easily accessible from points north, south, east, and west.

SH 190/Bush Turnpike

  • 190, also named President George Bush Turnpike, a 30 mile, 6-lane, limited access tollway, is an outer loop that serves as Richardson's northern border and provides for east-west traffic from Garland to W-635, near the airport
  • 190 links commuters to the Telecom Corridor® area and gives direct access to Central Expressway, Dallas North Tollway, I-35E and I-635.
  • It also gives an alternate route to DFW International Airport from northern and eastern parts of the Metroplex.

Dallas North Tollway

  • Dallas North Tollway is a convenient connection between downtown Dallas, north Dallas and southern Collin and Denton Counties.
  • 32-mile, 6-lane, north-south, limited access tollway which begins near downtown Dallas from IH-35E and extends north through Frisco at US 380.
  • Intersects with SH 190, providing a direct link to Richardson from cities in north Dallas and Collin County.
